Talk about a hidden gem. We came across this place by accident and boy I'm glad we did. The Service was phenomenal. Lady making tortillas by hand. We probably ate 2 dozen with butter before we even ordered. We had baskets of chips with three different salsas and chilaquiles before our food came out. Wow what a great place with great people and great service.

Food was delicious! Their Micheladas were delicious! Food was worth the wait. Their staff cleaned quickly right after someone left so the place was kept clean regardless of how busy it was on a Sunday. Will definitely return!

Made the drive from Havasu for excellent Mexican food, this was our 2nd time and we were not disappointed. I had the carnitas special and my husband had the chicken fajita special, more than we could eat so we have dinner for tonight. $23.00 with 2 lg. ice tea's, can't beat that!!! Oh and the service is Great!!!

El Charro offers the true southwestern Mexican dining experience at its best. Starting with the chips and salsa, which are some of the best I've ever had in my life, you will love everything about this restaurant. I ordered the chilaquiles which were absolutely perfect: the tortillas were crisp underneath the layers of sauce and cheese and the rice and beans accompanying were fantastic. Very reasonably priced beer on tap as well as Mexican Coca Cola set this restaurant apart. Service was exceptionally friendly and truly outstanding. Plus, all the tortillas are handmade on site. The clientele seemed friendly and apparently loved their cocktails as we saw tray after tray being served. ¡Provecho!

Just ate at this most amazing little mexican restaurant. Came to Laughlin and the bellman at Harrah recommended this place when I ask him for a "authentic real mexican food" I knew he would know a real place. I know how to cook mexican food so I am very particular so I was very pleased when I found this place. I had the machaca hard taco and chile relleno. The refried beans are the best ever. Homemade tortillas well everything is. The salsa is delicious and I am telling you I have won 1st place at the L.A. county fair for salsa and chile rellenos in the Comidas Mexicanas contest. I live in Las Vegas and will most definitely be making the drive to come back to eat here!!!

Wonderful place! The food is authentic and the service is amazing! The homemade tortillas alone are worth the trip! We are from out of town and it was so good that we had to have it two days in a row.

Had the Street Taco Special--so good! We were just passing thru, but would stop again for sure--good stuff!

Oasis in the desert. Everything about this place was top notch. Fresh salsa, homemade tortillas, amazing drinks, and the food was delicious. I had steak and shrimp fajitas, the steak was very tender, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned well. The mango margarita was the best I've ever had. Our server was friendly, attentive, and the food came out quickly. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and they surprised him with song, a sombrero, and a shot of tequila. Perfect way to end the meal. Definitely will be back.

Service: big smiles and very friendly. Helpful and prompt. Good: Open menu all day.. Tortilla chips were warm and FRESH. The salsa was well salted and FRESH. Chorizo con heuvos- house made pork chorizo was flavorful, with rice and beans. Meal was delicious. Hang over helper. Machaca con heuvos- flavorful. Rice was fluffy and well, just really tasty. The meat was tender and flour tortilla was FRESHly made. Flan was like a creamy custard. If only the whip cream was handmade...didn't even need the chocolate drizzle...it was wonderful. Overall- must try. We walked away with happy bellies.

I am from So. Cal. so Mexican food is just what I eat about 3 times a week. Let me tell all of you this place kills it on being great, authentic, awesome fresh ingredients and the home made recipes are just that. Fresh Corn & Flour Tortillas made all day long, just not at dinner time. I had the Huevo's Ranchero's for lunch and a Bloody Mary fresh Corn Tortillas right off the plancha. This is the kicker the entire bill was $14.28 are you kidding me, how do they stay in business with such cheap prices. The Best!!!

  • S M.

Liked their homemade flour tortillas and pozole, all the other dishes at our table were just okay. Michilada was good. We think they should put their salsas in a blender, to many filler onions in both. Homemade corn tortillas left much to be desired.

When I pulled up, everyone in the place turned and looked at me, watching me walk in. Weird. I get the feeling that most people who come here are regulars. It feels like a little mom and pop diner with a small bar...nothing fancy. Pretty easy to see why the regulars keep coming back. The food was inexpensive and what I had was almost great. The tortillas are fresh. The chips come out hot with this salsa that didn't look like it was going to be noteworthy -- wrong. Definitely good salsa. I ordered guacamole and it was clearly made with the good Haas avocados and a lot of them, no filler or cheap slimy avocados or crap, great guacamole. I had fajitas (I know, pretty unimaginative). They came out sizzling and tasty. The steak was not exactly what I expected, more like little chunks of a cheaper cut of meat than of what I consider "steak". But it was still very tasty. Next time I'm going with something a little more Mexican and less steak and onions. I saw some burrito come out for another table and I almost stuck my fork in it and dragged it to my own plate. The fresh tortillas are the bomb. That's definitely the highlight.

Delicious. Authentic Mexican food, fresh tortillas made for your meal. One of the best salsas I have ever had. I recommend eating here

Wow! Our friends brought us here and we will be coming every time we visit Laughlin! The homemade tortillas are the best. The micheladas are great and the beer are cheap! Seafood dish was so fresh and good. Our waitress was nice and even though we had a large party, she split the checks and also kept our table clear and beer full.

Real homemade tortillas. Amazing margaritas with a saltalita on the bottom. Their hot salsa isn't too hot but smokey goodness. They just expanded the restaurant so, the is more seating available. They are closed on Mondays. Happy hour is Tuesday-Friday 2pm-6pm (Wednesday is till 7pm)

  • Miranda M.

Cane across this restaurant because I wanted to eat some Mexican food. Their tortillas are so good it reminds me of my mom's tortillas and those are hard to remake! I will definitely recommend for real authentic Mexican food and will come back if I am ever in Laughlin!

Homemade Torts! Need I say more? Food was good, no complaints. Service was excellent! Waiter was very attentive. Had the Carne Asada with Camarones...The Shrimp could have been Al Mojo style but it was still edible. Rice and beans were good and they give you more than enough portions. My go to Mexican food place when I'm back in town!

  • Manny P.

Excellent food and delicious hand made tortillas. Good flavor to all food we had. Party of 11 and not 1 complained about their food. Micheladas do need some tweeking.

  • D R.

Came here and it looked promising because of all the people there. That's always a good sign! The place was kinda small and there wasn't really a method to the madness when they built this place considering the waiters had to walk through crowds of people with food to bring to tables. Nothing really special here except the homemade tortillas. Oh, and the guy next to us picking his brain out of his nose! (Not the restaurant's fault). But seriously, that guy needed some manners. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a ground beef taco. I should've got both of them with ground beef cause the shredded beef tasted like it was marinated in a sour rag. It was nasty. I wouldn't return here. Try Casa Serrano instead.

  • Luella D.

This is the best Mexican food in town. It makes home made tortillas- flour or corn. The food is great. The Magritas excellent, they have regular, strawberry, mango and guava. The prices is great. They have his taco platter that serves 3-4 people for $35.00. My boyfriend and I call this our place for the best dinner at a great price. We go here about once a week. we love this place. No other Mexican restaurant can come close.

Very good food and excellent, friendly service! We stopped here for lunch before our trip home from Laughlin. The margaritas are very good and the prices are cheap. The place was busy but no waiting outside or to get a table. We'll definitely come back again.

This is a great family run Mexican restaurant. While visiting our mother during the 4th of July weekend we decided to give this place a try. Walking in we were happily greeted by the owner. She told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. As we sat and looked over the menu, deciding what to order, fresh hot chips and salas was place on our table. My mom order the taco Tuesday special. It came with 3 tacos (with homemade corn tortillas made at the restaurant), rice and beans. Mom ordered asada, chicken and pork for her tacos. My brother ordered the Machaca burrito plate with rice and beans and myself. I ordered the California Burrito plate. This burrito was filled with carne asada, fries, cheese, pico de gallo & guacamole. I asked for the burrito to be wet with red sauce. The three of us all agreed that their food was great. All the meat in my moms tacos were juicy and flavorful. My brother love his Machaca burrito and I really enjoyed my California burrito. The French fries added to this burrito was a nice touch. We loved their refrained beans. They were not greasy and had just the right amount of salt. Besides our food we ordered a few rounds of margaritas. They were quite tasty and had a good kick to them. The restaurant was very clean and the Mexican decor inside was nice. While we were there a gentleman was playing Mexican music on a aquatic guitar. Their burrito plates got my brother and myself so full we had leftovers to take home.

Intro: Prior to coming here, my boyfriend and I didn't really have a favorite local restaurant. All the places we tried were very fatty, salty, oily, and not fresh. Not that mexican food is the healthiest thing on the planet, but there's always fajitas to lessen the guilt right? Pros: -The servers here, namely Daniel and another lady (I don't think I've ever asked for her name) who is always SUPER happy and gives people hugs and kisses and calls them honey and sweetie. They are the bomb. Daniel is incredibly profession and far more than some people of this town deserve. The second time we ate here, some lowlife bleep-hole gave Daniel such a hard time because he is young (he looks like he's 15) and kept asking these stupid questions about the menu, relentlessly quizzing him and interrupting him when he answered back and Daniel was 100% calm the entire time and helped the guy with his every demand. He's a better person than I would've been. I wanted to help them spit a loogie in his food, that customer was so rude. But you know what, every time we go there, I don't know how many other bleeps they deal with throughout the day, but they'll keep greeting each new customer who walks in like it's the best day ever. That's saintlike right there. -Food is amazing. The shrimp fajita? Those shrimps are huge! They don't skimp on them shrimp. Every dish I get lasts another meal and I love it because it tastes just as good heated up in the microwave the day after. -Tortillas? OH my god. So good and so fresh . They taste completely different from store bought tortillas and I love them. -Margaritas? Amazing and huge! I think the house margaritas come with the saladito in it too! -Complimentary chips and salsa are really good too. -You also get soup with some of the dishes, which is really yummy as well. Like a brothy tomato cilantro plus some angel hair pasta soup. -They have live music in the evenings every now and then, which is really neat! Doesn't affect my likelihood of going but it may be an attraction to others. -My favorite so far? The Steak con Camaron platter. This was a recommendation from Daniel! Yay! -The daily specials are a very very good deal, but the menu is very expansive and it's not hard to try something new every time you go there. Cons: -Some of the servers who are not Daniel or super sweet happy lady have gotten our orders wrong or forgotten our orders and had to ask us again on a couple occasions. It doesn't bother us most of the time because we don't have food preferences and usually if it's accidentally switched out, we don't care. Sometimes I do see some of the servers standing around and gossiping and I wonder if they're working as hard as they're supposed to. I never see super sweet happy lady stand still, she's always wiping sweat off her brow doing something. I never see Daniel stop working either. I could see where there could be an opportunity for someone to have a really bad first visit if they don't get a good server. If you will have a fit if your order is wrong, then just ask for Daniel or something, but give the food a chance. Conclusion: This is my favorite restaurant in this entire town.

Woooow. I love this place! I had the strawberry Margarita (you can see the strawberry seeds in it--real strawberries were used yay!), fish and shrimp taco and flan for dessert. Everything from was delicious! The rice was perfectly cooked and the corn tortillas were the best. A woman makes the tortillas for the restaurant out front in the dining room, so you know they are the freshest can be! I asked if I could buy some corn tortillas to take home and they said sure! then I asked how long they'd keep and they said only about a day. Of course I am just used to the store-bought tortillas that stay fresh for months, but it makes sense the fresh ones don't last long. It's just that fresh! The flan, made by our server's mom, was the best I've ever had and I've had a lot of homemade flan....Oh man....sooooo good... All in all, fabulous night! The servers were attentive and friendly. There is nothing I can say bad about El Charro! We wil be back for sure the next time we come to Laughlin!

El Charro is by far my favorite mexican restaurant in the tri-state area...actually anywhere. First of all, the service is always outstanding and they always make you feel at home. My favorite is the carne asada plate with home made corn tortillas. The asada is always juicy and cooked just right, they even cut it in small pieces knowing that I share with my 4 year old. So, if you are anywhere near El Charro, then you have to stop by and enjoy the food and family atmosphere...you won't be disappointed! Ps- don't forget to ask for Silvia or Angelica!

Great food and service! We have been twice now for taco tuesday. They have great prices and the guitar player adds a great ambiance to the atmosphere. We will be going back because the food is delicious, homemade tortillas & chips and amazing food.

Since my original review, we'be been back twice and on our second visit we thought the food was just average - but chalked it up to an off day for the kitchen. Sadly on our 3rd visit last week we were definitely underwhelmed by the food and more so by the service - the always upbeat Sylvia was there but, sadly, she was not our server today. Our server was a guy who seemed in a HUGE rush to get everyone (not just us) in and out as quickly as possible. He also asked if I wanted eggs with my chilaquiles but neglected to mention it would incur a $2.75 charge (it was probably on the menu, but we felt so rushed to order I must have overlooked it). As for the food, my chilaquiles were pretty good, but the wife's crispy taco was not: the shell was under-cooked and greasy with a rather bland beef filling. Disappointing!

Ok guys, I have finally decided to do this. This has been a long time coming and many of you have asked me what I thought of this place. Where do I begin? Ahhh yes I know now, the very beginning before success comes into the picture. We were day one customers to this establishment as well. I got to know the grandmother and there family members pretty well. Very nice people and very passionate about how they did there food at the time. The grandmother was the little older lady making tortillas at the entrance when you first walked in. I was greeted at the time by a very professional 10 year old with spiked hair, he was more professional then the majority of the businesses here in Bullhead city. He seated us and took our drink orders and was really fast at getting them. Valerie thought it was awesome that this little kid was already at the top of his job more so then other places, so we order our food and all is good. This was the first day and many came after that . Fast forward to current day, we have an expanded restaurant with about 3 or 4 new waiters and a very busy establishment. Fast track back a second, everything was cooked to order. Nowadays, food is prepped ahead of time and started to get water logged from sitting in the steamers to long. They do not care anymore on rather or not the ingredients are fresh. I went from RAVING about this place to my friends and family to telling people that it has changed and not for the better. We made an observation with the hired help, they are no longer as attentive as they once were, they always seem to forget what drinks are where and what food you ordered. When the grand parents were there, everyone was on there game and stayed on point with there service. I was told by one of the grand children that we saw at Sams club that she no longer works there because they have slowly took what made El Charro so great and flushed it down the toilet. In the beginning like most businesses, I would have given this restaurant a 5 star rating based on the fresh ingredients and the cook to order method alone. What I liked about El Charro was the food tasted so good, and I was treated extremely well. We got to know everyone there and we always had a good time with them. We walked in and we were always greeted warmly in which we never experienced else where. This last time we went, we were told hi and to pick a seat. "ok cool no big deal". We didn't get the right drinks, we didn't get to order said drinks till 30 minutes later. I ordered the California burrito and Val ordered her normal dish which is the two item combo plate. We waited almost an hour for this. We have never waited this long before. The food we got wasn't what we ordered. We ordered beef everything. I get ground beef and she gets shredded, we got water logged pork and dry shredded pork. At this point we were like ok, lets just try to eat this and go and so we did. The first time I have ever left a tip below 50 percent here. I tip based on service and over all quality performance of the establishment. I can't leave just a single star based on the fact that we have history here and many good times in which if it wasn't for this place we could have never had. So I will rate this a 2.5 "This very situation has happened more then once, hence why this review is so long" I will keep this post updated if there have been any improvements. Remember folks, don't change your methods just because you become more successful in your thriving business. Customers like myself will notice it immediately.

Down in the area for a work project, we were not expecting to find a superb eat spot. My friends said they always default to Black Bear diner and two of us convinced the other two to step out of their comfort zone and try someplace new. So we ventured off the beaten patch and thanks to other "Yelp Reviews" we were directed here. A) The service was phenomenal our waitress was attentive, friendly and just all around awesome!! B) The salsas were delicious. C) Portion sizes were a lot larger than your typical Mexican restaurants. D) The food tasted better than your typical Mexican restaurants. E) Prices were extremely less than your typical Mexican restaurants. I had a cheese enchilada with a carne asada taco, my friends had two carne asada chimichangas, and carnitas burrito with green sauce, everyone loved their dishes! I forgot to mention we were given complimentary fideo soup (this had twist with noodls, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, and a dash of heaven). Unfortunately we don't work in the area often but now we have a new spot to come to when we do!

The food here is great. So authentic, tasty and fresh. They make their tortillas to order (don't forget to tip the tortilla lady!) and they make the difference in all their dishes. Their prices are reasonable, the bathroom was clean. We eat here at least twice when we are spend the weekend in Laughlin.

Oh man. I used to LOVE this place but I think since they expanded and are busier that the quality has gone waaaay down. That and our waitress kind of kept running away from us but gave great customer service to everyone else. It wasn't real busy but our waitress was nowhere to be seen except fawning all over the other people in the room. The food wasn't as awesome as it used to be. Makes me so sad because it used to be delicious and my favorite place to eat. I think the prices have gone way up too. If you raise your prices you better own up to it and make the food worth the buck. The drinks were gross and hubby asked to replace his coke with an iced tea that was gross too. How do you mess up iced tea?? When it was time to pay we had the tip ready and I handed the waitress my card and watched her hand it off to some random waiter and she acted busy to greet people who walked in. Really? And the dude kept running all over the place with my card. That made me nervous. She even ran away from the tip we (hubby and I) were going to give her. She didn't get the tip--she ran away and pawned us on someone else. Not cool. Made us feel like crap and rushed to get out. We took the hint, didn't tip and got the hell out. Won't be back. Sucks!!! Maybe if they bring the quality back up and don't treat us like crap we would consider coming back.

I love their food! The price is good the serving size is big and its real Mexican food! The tea is brewed if ur a snobb like me (I hate tea in a bib) The servers are very friendly and it is family owned and ran... And the tortillas are fresh made daily and you can tell! And even when they are busy they are still friendly and fast as they can be

Great food and wonderful service. After 10 years of having our vacation home in Bullhead City we finally went to El Charro and will make this a regular stop when in town. No need to venture across the river! The margaritas were tasty, the beer cold, and the food excellent. Our server was attentive and the freshly made tortillas were outstanding.

Based on the reviews we decided to stop by. Reason for the 1 star review: it took about 10 minutes for somebody to come help us & when they finally did I couldn't order alcohol because the waiter was a kid & had to repeat my order to his mom. I asked for a Kettle One bloody Mary & I got Michelada mix with some vodka. After 15 minutes we got our appetizer (carne asada fries) they were just ok. After another 10 minutes the waiter (kid) then tells me they are out off bread for my torta. Really it took them 25 minutes to find out they were outta bread!!??? Come'on!!! We decided to leave after that.

I've been coming to el charro since they opened and were only one room big. They've done so well that they knocked through the wall to expand. They have delicious food and great service. It is definitely the best Mexican food BHC has to offer. It has been voted the best but you can tell how amazing it is when you see how packed it is any night of the week. My favorites include the Choriqueso, the Vampire tostada special on Wednesdays, the Chilaquiles con Chorizo... And really anything that you can put their delicious carnitas on. Mangoritas are amazing!

Friendly and fast. Also absolutely delicious. Had the fajitas which were the special and they were great, not all onions. The service was fast and they were very friendly. I will most definitely go back.

We are locals, and have a lot of experience with Mexican Restaurants throughout the Southwest. The courteous and friendly service was excellent. However, the food was OK, lacking in flavor, and just not good enough to cause us to return. The guitar player was a nice touch. The frozen Margarita was fruit juice. I think they forgot to add the Tequila. We are not demanding, but do like food with some flavor, and drinks average, at least. This was our first Mexican Restaurant since moving into the area. We will continue to look for others. Wish it would have been better, so we could have made it a regular stop.

LOVED this place! The staff are amazingly nice and attentive, and the food is wonderful! The housemade tortillas are the best and we enjoyed everything we ate. The salsa is perfect. Love that locals come here too - always a good sign! Loved the mama making the tortillas in the front - love her tortillas! Small jewel off the main drag in a strip mall but good atmosphere because of the friendly staff. Will definitely be back (and we're from out of State!) and now have told my Ft. Mohave relatives about this place too.

Pretty decent mexican food then what you will find in Laughlin. I came in with my boyfriend since we couldnt make it on our last trip out to Laughlin. We can around 1130ish. Not busy when we got in. He went to the restroom and while he was gone they told us that he couldnt keep his coffee that we brought in. Whatever!!!! Food was good, the server we had was great. It seems like a place for locals. All sorts of people was there towards the end of our meal. Salsa is good but spicy. There is a lady who is in the corner that makes fresh tortillas. Ive has better home made tortillas but it was cool to see someone make it.

  • Venicia B.

Food was pretty good. I ordered the the combination plate with cheese enchiladas in red sauce & a crunchy taco; while my date ordered the menudo. My favorite was the crunchy taco & the menudo. The menudo was cooked to perfection & nice & tender. The tacos were made from home made corn tortillas & you could really taste the difference . And you can order lunch or dinner during breakfast as well. The servers were friendly & attentive. The restaurant itself is small & intimate, but that's also part of it's allure. Stop by if you find yourself in Laughlin.

By far the best mexican food I've had! My husband and I make a point to go here weekly and never tire of the food and great prices! $17 dinner for two and a beer! Can't beat it. There's always a lady making homemade tortillas and we always order a dozen to-go. Must try it!

Just had breakfast here with my family and some members of our car club and the food was perfect. Authentic food, I had tamales that tasted better then most of the tamales I've ever had, my brother had the California burrito and he said it tasted great too! The waiter was nice and kept tabs on us even with a full house.

The BEST Mexican food hands down! I always order the beef fajitas because they are excellent and even though I have been here numerous times, the food is always consistent. They also have really good homemade tortillas and salsa. If you want really good authentic Mexican food than this is the place for you.

Took my family here for breakfast while on vacation in Laughlin. It is a must do for some great Mexican food. My husband had Menudo and homemade corn tortillas and my son and I had some great carnita and carne asada tacos with rice and beans. This is family owned and everbody is so nice and on the ball with service. Not our first time here and not are last time. This place is know to other Californians because most of the cars in the lot are from California. Looking forward to our next visit !!!

Just visiting this area Great food was here years ago and still excellent food will be back. Great specials at reasonable prices.

Maybe an off day as the food was just ok. Expensive for what you get. A chicken burrito. . A steak burrito . . A quesadilla . . And 3 soft drinks for $34. Not worth it. But the staff was friendly and service was good. . So 4 stars for service and 2 stars for food.

Best Mexican food in bullhead! This locally owned restaurant is always good, with its homemade tortillas, great salsa and it's on point service, we continously come back for move. Prices are good and they're busy for a reason! Love the live music too!!

I've grown up eating many varieties of Mexican food. We spent my growing up years traveling to Mexico. I travel quite a bit, and always try the local flavors. This is some of the BEST, most authentic, most affordable Mexican food within 300 miles of Los Angeles. Everything we had at our table of four was wonderful. The worst part is the operating hours. Wish they were open more during the winter, but I understand from the business perspective.

Went to El Charro for lunch. Promptly seated ourselves. We were instantly greeted with warmed tortilla chips and two types of salsa: a green and red. These table appetizers were delicious and we quickly polished them off. Our beverages consisted of diet coke and an ice water with a slice of lemon. The water had a strange taste to it and it proved to be unpalatable. We ordered chicken enchiladas and a ground beef burrito, the latter served with 'everything' and a side of rice and beans. The enchiladas were well-sized and served appropriately hot, but were bland as paper completely devoid of spice or flavor. The burrito with rice and beans serving was enormous and heated well with good flavor. The service was acceptable. Overall, the price was reasonable for the product. All things considered, the chips & salsa were the best part of the experience.

This is our go to Mexican restaurant! Food, service and drinks are consistently the best. Happy hour is 2-6 so it gets busy during those hours but this place is well worth any wait. Your greeted by the friendly attentive staff as soon as you walk in the door! Chips and salsa are soon to follow once your seated. The food is fresh and flavorful. House margarita on the rocks is my drink of choice but I've tasted the frozen mixed margaritas and the are tasty as well. This is the only Mexican restaurant would advise trying in Bullhead City but only bummer is they are closed on Mondays.

Let me explain why only two stars. I have lived in Southern California all my life and have eaten in Mexican restaurants from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Initially on the first visit I order a chicken enchilada [ala carte] and a side of beans on a separate plate. That way I'm comparing apples to apples. The "gold standard" for these two is Los Compadres in Long Beach. The items from El Charro fall WAY below average. The beans were mainly whole beans floating in a brown sauce with a white ingredient intermingled [assume some kind of cheese] that disintegrated; an unappealing plate. As for the chicken enchilada it was undersized and filled with a small amount of entirely dark meat. The red sauce was watery and had shredded yellow cheese sprinkled all over; but not melting as you'd expect, but with a grainy appearance. There was also an additional item; hard beef taco [ala carte]. In this case the two upright wings of the shell were "hard" as expected but the bottom was greasy and soggy. My assumption is the shells are pre-filled with the meat and then held in readiness for the remaining fillings when ready for delivery. Thus, while they sit waiting, the meat soaks the bottom of the shell with grease. Undoubtedly this is a time-saver, but not a good idea when served. The service was above average, with prompt delivery of store bought chips and fresh made salsa.

Family owned Mexican restaurant. Service was very good, waitress and servers are extremely friendly. Today we had the steak fajitas and Carnitas it was fabulous! Served with rice and beans and guacamole. Tortillas are homemade and so good. The grandmother makes Fideo soup, it has such a great flavor. Grandma is not sharing her recipe. We shared the flan it was good too! They have a bar and happy hour during the week. Saturday around 5 o'clock there is a guitarist for entertainment. We love this place! Very relaxing with really good food. Dinners are $8. to $13.00.

Could not be happier with my experience at this restaurant in every respect. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and prompt and there was even a wonderful man who played a guitar who was completely enjoying himself making such beautiful music. So glad I found this pace and will definitely be back given the opporunity....

This place is just UNREAL!!! The Quality and Care that seems to go into every dish is just astonishing!!! It is like having someones Mexican grandmother make you a more american style authentic Mexican cuisine hahahaha. If that makes sense.... Anyways I just had to write another review, because they are growing and expanding and I so hope they open another location!! They are typically pretty busy and it gets loud so it can be hard to hear and speak, but the food is by far the best Mexican food in Bullhead City. They really seem to care a lot about everything they put out and their weekly specials cannot be beat for the price. And the Margaritas.... Phenomenal!! They are a little on the sweet side, but salty too and they go down like water on a hot day. Very tasty!! Plus their happy hour is long and very well priced!! SUPPORT THIS PLACE!!! They deserve it! "Definitely the best Mexican food in the area. Very low key, the specials are excellent, the staff is quick and super friendly, and the FOOD!!... Just delicious! Muy Rico!!!! Very authentic, flavorful, and the portions are just right. You will get plenty to eat and not want to leave a bite behind hahaha. The only reason to go here is for the food, the place is nothing special, but it is pretty quiet and comfortable for being such a busy small place. Excellent for work lunches. Excellent place, and a wonderful establishment to support. The Specials are excellent so Tip Well, because the food almost seems too cheap for how good it is."

Honestly, I feel I was misled by the previous comments on this place. I went to check it out, assuming the 4-1/2 stars and multiple stars were accurate, and found I will never go back. The waitress was not nice and attentive, and kept rushing us. I got a coctel de Cameron and it was gross, I would never recommend it. I've had many cocteles de camaron, and What they served me didn't even taste right. I also got an appetizer and it was not the best I've had. If you're looking for a pleasant dinner out, with good service and good food, than this is not the place for you.

Saw this as highly reviewed on yelp, came to see all the hype. The choriqueso is good not great. now as far as the chile verde, looks gross but its absolutely delicious. The home made tortillas makes this even a better meal. Fajitas were ok. I guess for being by Laughlin its good.

The food is just ordinary, nothing special. Had the carneasda blan, rice and beans just ok. The best thing is there home made flour and corn tortillas. It will not be on my list to go back anytime so. Oh yeah yelp says it is average noise leavel. Not! it is so loud in there.

I can't believe people rave about this place. If I could give no stars I would! I had a machaca taco machaca burrito and a pork tamale with rice and beans. The machaca beef had absolutely no flavor and the pork tamale what meat was in it had no taste. This was a total waste of money! Big lesson learned.

We moved to the area a little over a year ago. Have to admit the "good" restaurant selection is limited but this place is very good. Always fresh and delish. Had the machaca con huevos today. So good. They have good portions and the staff is very friendly. Love this place.

This place has some real potential, but they ruin their dishes with way too much cheddar cheese. Their nachos were amazing, but I could barely finish their enchilada. My boyfriend was not a fan of the torta. Service was excellent though. very friendly and very quick. The place was cute and food seemed well prepared. I really just cant get over the over kill of cheddar cheese.

This place is good for mexican grub. Also good service friendly staff. ..I got the 3 item combo plate. Chile relleno, ground beef taco, and a pork tamale. My wife got the torta plate. Both were very tasty. Plus they give you chips and salsa and a small cup of fidello soup. Right as I walked in this joint I can smell the hand made tortillas. This place is worth your time to try if you want good mex grub. Seems like their known for their fajitas since alot of folks were ordering them. I will try on my next visit. I'm from LA where the best mex grub places are and this place stands right next to them. I will most def be going back. .. Oh my wife ordered a margarita. .. IT WAS AWESOME. ...

Pretty amazing place. Came here because of their reviews and it did not disappoint. The chilaquiles de chorizo were amazing. The burrito's asada was tender and juicy. Above all the service was great. To service 11 people the waitresses were very patient and accommodating. I would definitely return on my next visit to Laughlin.

I am not a resident of BHC, I live quite a ways away, but I was visiting family and my sister told me that El Charro was her favorite Mexican place in the area. Being the spoiled Phoneican, city slicker I am, I expected the place to be decent, but not to measure up to my favorites. So. Wrong. The chips were delicious and salty and the two types of salsa were very satisfying. My husband and I both ordered the chipotle carnitas because it sounded great. We got soup expecting it to be tortilla or albondigas but it was a very tasty fideo. Got our food and wow, so delicious. Soooooooo freakin' good. Like, the tortillas were hot and fresh and amazing, the re-fried beans and rice were super flavorful and so good, and the carnitas were sooo delicious. They were obviously cooked slowly and then pan-fried or something to give them a wonderful char, and the chipotle seasoning was perfect. What an unexpected treat. The place is very small and there was a wait because it was biker weekend and the staff was very apologetic, but this place was worth three times the wait we spent. It was really delicious. I had an on the rocks margarita that was good, but the food was a really wonderful treat. If El Charro was near my house I'd be a regular for sure. I bet loads of the things on the menu are as good as the chipotle carnitas but I'd be happy eating that once a week for the rest of my life. This place is the perfect, most wonderful hole in the wall and if I visit BHC again I will look forward to coming here the most. Awesome, awesome Mexican restaurant with great food and service.

This was quite possibly the BEST Mexican restaurant we've ever been to...and we've been to a LOT! It's a small, unassuming place so we were a wondering about it at first. Upon entering, we were greeted by a gentleman playing the most beautiful acoustic guitar music...great to dine by! Our waitress Silvia, was the absolute sweetest person we've ever been served by! She was always checking on us and made us feel like we've known her for years. :) The chips and two salsas were awesome, especially the green chile one. Both of our meals were preceded by a cup of delicious tomato broth noddle soup..we didn't expect it but really enjoyed it. I got the the Green Chile Verde Burrito and it was really good. But I was sooo jealous after my husband got his Carnitas Chimichanga... it was so delicious he wanted to go hug the cook! ha. The carnitas meat was both juicy and crispy on the edges and the flavor was out of this world! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! We both got beans only with the meal, and they were not too heavy and had a delicious homemade taste. The margaritas had a salted apricot pit in them as an added touch and flavor (Silvia said they do that way down in Mexico)....they were really good! We loved the place so much that we went back the next day for breakfast...and we were not disappointed! I got the machaca and eggs with beans with homemade corn and flour tortillas...fantastic. The hubster got the Eggs with Homemade Chorizo and beans, he loved it. The chorizo was light, delicious and not greasy at all. We will be going back here every time we get the chance to make it over to the Laughlin area!

Okay, the place is in a funky little shopping center, their bathroom leaves much to be desired, but the food and service were AWESOME especially in Bullhead/Laughlin area! Had the shrimp and steak fajitas and would totally order that again-- was so yummy. Their salsa is perfect--just what you want from a good little Mexican restaurant. Their margaritas-- YUM. Just FYI, their margaritas come with a weird fruit pit in them-- I was curious and asked about it. So, it's a plum pit that's been soaked or coated--shoot, can't remember!--but it's salty I think-- so probably coated in salt??? Anyhow, they put them in all their margaritas and said that some people like to suck on them bc they soak up the flavor of the margarita. Interesting. I tried it--dunno if you really need it or if it really does anything for the drink, but whateves, it's interesting. And, margarita was pretty perfect :)

Excellent food and service! I'm from SoCal and like to think I know good Mexican food. This placed rocked. The lady was so nice and let us try a soup they had. Fideo soup I think, pretty damn good. I had the chimichanga with carnitas. Carnitas were crispy on the outside and tender in the center. Others in the group had the taco loco, menudo, pazole, Chilaquiles, nachos, and Chile relleno. Nobody had any complaints! Everyone gorged and walked out swollen, needless to say it was a successful lunch. Will definitely be going back. Keep doing what you're doing El Charro!

This place is as good as you've heard, maybe better. Since I learned I'm gluten intolerant, nachos have become a staple in my diet as they're almost always gluten-free. Seriously, I eat a LOT of nachos. And these are the second best I've ever had. (First Place goes to those at Border Grill at Mandalay Bay, but those are also like $17 a plate.) I wasn't sure I'd like place when we got there. First, it was loud, and I hate loud . The TV was going, the stereo was playing Mexican music, and the lunch crowd was chattering away. The restaurant is small, so it seems to get loud easily. Next, the complimentary chips and salsa didn't blow me away. They gave us two salsas, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, I liked neither. I'd wager they're homemade and they're very flavorful but very garlicky. I'm not a fan of raw garlic. Like I said, I ordered the nachos, with machaca, but I also threw in a tamale just to check it out. Then of course I needed a margarita (happy hour 2-6!) and my boyfriend got the little street tacos, probably carne asada. I loved everything! The machaca was great (although a little fatty, but I didn't mind) and the guacamole was fresh and homemade with chunks of avocados in it. The plate is huge. (The owner told me most people can't finish it, and I might be the person who polished off a whole plate without a doggy bag! Quite proud of that one...) These things are addictive, I have been back several times a week since discovering them. So the tamale: really good. The margarita: really good, and big, and strong, and $3.25 during happy hour. The street tacos: really good, and on special Tuesdays and Thursdays. The prices: really good. My huge plate of delicious nachos was less than $8, and a friend and I split them AND the margarita easily. (Granted, I'm not much of a drinker, but I'm an eater for sure!) Friday and Saturday they have $7.95 fajitas which smell amazing. And I gotta say, the family that owns this place is so nice. Very warm and friendly and inviting. You can tell they're glad to have you as a guest. All in all, its some of the best Mexican food I've had in Bullhead OR Vegas,

My wife and I have been eating at El Charro nearly every week since they opened. As I read the reviews critical of their food or service, I can only say that occasionally the place falls victim to it's own success. They recently remodeled, doubling their seating capacity yet, there's a wait to be seated during peak hours. We try to avoid the 5-7pm rush as they are generally just too busy. This is especially true on cheap Taco night. Given the sheer volume of meals served, it's no surprise there's an occasional unimpressed customer. All in all El Charro is a tremendous asset to our little backriver town. Now, as to the food, we love it. Ice cold Mexican beer on tap, great margaritas and an eclectic and authentic menu. The fresh, handmade corn and flour tortillas are without equal. The everyday specials are reasonably priced and not your basic run of the mill Mexican fare.Their fresh seafood coctiels, cheviche and sopas rivals meals I've had in Baja or the Mexican Riviera. One of their best bargains is a ceveche tostada topped with sliced avocados for 4.95. In addition, it's a great place for Sunday breakfast/brunch. The Huevos rancheros and Chilliquilles have never disappointed. As much as we like the food, the friendly and genuine treat you like family atmosphere is reason alone to go there. I hope success never changes that.

This is my favorite place to eat in Bullhead. I've had the Taco Loco, the chicken fajita, the steak fajita, chili verde,..all great! I love the home made tortillas. It takes a lot of talent to make a tortilla so light, thin, and delicious. They even have live music!

This has to be the best Mex food my wife and I have EVER enjoyed. We flew out from the East coast on a Thursday and had no idea that we would be experiencing this caliber of cuisine. The service was great, the best margies, Chile Rellenos, Tamales, Fish Tacos. Atmosphere very inviting. Angelina and staff make you feel very welcomed. So good we went back for lunch before we flew back...

It's easily the best Mexican food in the area. The downside is that it can get packed and you can run into quite a wait until your food is served. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is great. Parking can be rough on a busy night.

They have the best fish taco's in town!!!!! Fresh tortilla's and so delicious!!! Since they have expanded their building, it's A LOT better. We loved eating there, but stopped going because the seating was so cramped. There were times where there was no place to sit at all, but it was only because the space was just too small. They now have a brand new added area of dining, which is very well decorated, and you no longer feel like you are sitting on top of someone else! Finding good Mexican food here was tough, especially coming from CA, where you could find it anywhere, so we are very happy to have them now! I rated it 4 stars, ONLY BECAUSE, no matter how good you are, there is always something you can improve!! A business owner should always strive for perfection, especially in this economy, because once you feel you have it, you tend to relax, and that is when you fail. Good Luck to El Charro....you have our vote for the best Mexican food in town!!!

  • Elaina R.

Absolutely the best margarita I've ever had. Best refried beans as well. Me and the man ate there three times while we were in the area (though admittedly there isn't really much else by way of culinary options.) Happy hour margaritas are about three dollars and worth every penny. We both got tacos each visit (Asada, pork, and fish) and the Asada and pork are definitely worth a try. Fish are so so. A side of refried beans comes in at under two dollars and is basically a dinner plate of refried beans with white queso baked on top. Muy bueno. We had been on a two month southwest road trip, and this is some of the best Mexican food we tried. If you're in BHC and looking for food, you might as well give it a shot. It's not like you'll be missing out on much else.

Great Mexican food at a great price. They have a fajita special on Saturday that is a really good value. It's like $7.99 for a regular sized plate of fajitas (chicken or steak) with homemade tortillas, beans, rice, and guacamole. The salsas that you get with chips while waiting are both pretty delicious. Their happy hour is amazing; it's something like 2-8pm every day of the week. They also had a live guitarist playing some really good background music while I was there on Saturday afternoon. I really like this place for the value, quality, and ambiance.

We tried this place on Thursday which is taco night (1.00 hard tacos.) They were ok for a dollar, slightly above average but not fantastic. Also had the Carne Asada tacos which are very small and overpriced at 2.25. They were served on cold corn/flour mix tortillas which made them worse. The three little pieces of meat tasted good but each taco had at least one piece of gristle in it. Was expected to be blown away after reading all the reviews but was a little disappointed. Homemade tortillas were really bad and somehow I feel like that's not what we got by looking at the pictures of them. The happy hour is ok by lasting until 6:00 and our Bud Lights were ice cold. The girl (maybe owner?) was extremely nice and friendly and actually made us feel glad we came. Couldn't have been more gracious. Real reason to go back if we do. Overall I have to give it a three for the disappointing tortillas and the Carne Asada. Agaves on Hancock will give you better tacos on Tuesday and cheaper draft beer but this place ok and I think they could get better. Update 01/03/2014: We tried El Charro again and what a change!!!!!! Food was excellent (we had the beef fajitas). Whatever tortillas we had the first time were nothing like this time. They are some of the best tortillas I've ever eaten. The beef on the fajitas was perfect. Too much food though!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had to get doggie bags. Staff still excellent and beer still ice cold.!! Expanded the establishment and now plenty of room. We totally enjoyed the dinner and the place. We will be back.

Very solid Mexican food. I don't really like the layout of the place...I can't really put a finger on it. But as for the food, I am impressed. I get the El Charro tacos everytime and haven't been disappointed. The salsas are all fresh.

Good food, reasonable prices! Delicious chicken fajitas! Salad, Rice and Beans for $7.95 on Fri/Sat- CANNOT BE BEAT! Taco Tuesdays! Great value! Delicious taco trio! Wed Burrito Night! Ground beef very good - Shredded beef was good but I preferred the ground beef. $3.99 (beans only came in the burrito but it was tasty and filling)

Amazing food and service. Authentic Mexican food -- nothing canned or pre-made. Even the tortillas are made by hand on the premise. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was served fast and was hot. We will definitely be back -- many times!!

Well ... I'm going to have to disagree with the majority of Yelpers here. THE boyfriend and I had dinner here and it was packed. The atmosphere is great, the staff is great. Now, for the food review. I had a combination plate of a chile relleno and machaca enchilada. THE boyfriend had a machaca wet burrito. As I was eating my machaca enchilada, I thought I was imagining the sweetness of the machaca. I asked THE boyfriend if his machaca burrito tasted sweet. He said yes. Did the kitchen mistakenly add sugar instead of salt?? My chile relleno was just ok. In my book, the difference in an "ok" chile relleno and a great chile relleno is the chile that is used. El Charro uses an anaheim, but a poblano chile takes it to the highest level. The beans and rice were fine. Not enjoying a meal at a restaurant the first time you visit kind of jades my opinion of the place, even though other menu items might be great. Not sure if we will visit El Charro again.

Wow...cannot believe we all ate at the same place. Because of the reviews we gave it a try. The very first strike was the chips were burnt and dried out. Not any better than the worst chain restaurants. The young lady who took care of us was nice but not very helpful since we told her it was our first time. Bro had the fish tacos which he said were good. But the other three choices we ok but not great. The Carnitas was gamey and dry, the Potato Tacos had all the fix'ns on the outside and you couldn't open them up without tearing them apart and the carne on the asada fries was old. But we thought anyplace can have a bad night so we tried it again....Well the chips were not any better, maybe a little worse. We waited a long time to get helped and the young man who helped this time didn't seem as if he wanted to wait on us. The enchiladas were made with red chili sauce and not enchilada sauce....when we ask if the potato tacos could be made with the "stuff" inside, we were told they were not made fresh and could not. The shredded beef has NO flavor. The rellano tasted freezer burnt. They seem to only use romaine lettuce on everything and it was warm and limp. Both times no one came to check on us....maybe because we weren't "drinking". Gave them two stars only because the rice and soup are very good....

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at anywhere. Definitely the best in Bullhead. Homemade tortillas, six different salsas, great food. Try the green chile salsa, fantastic!

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD THIS SIDE OF MEXICO! Bullhead City is challenged in the restaurant department. We looked high and low for a good Mexican joint for two years while wintering here in BHC to no avail until we stumbled across El Charro, if you have a favorite Mexican dish, order it up and prepare for a pleasant surprise because the food is at another level and service is EXCELLENT!

My husband and I came over from Laughlin side of the river because of the reviews. This is a place where the locals visit - so you know it is good. It was worth the trip. The chips and salsa was fantastic - fresh and warm chips. The service was great - very attentive and friendly. IT WAS AWESOME FOOD!!!!! Their pina coladas were great. This place is quaint, so if you want five star amenities, then go to a casino. This is about good food and not all the hoopla. The price (not that we care that much) was also great. Huge portions. I can't say enough good things, but I can say that we will be back for sure!

From now on, this will be a mandatory stop! Best dern tostada I have EVER had. On the top of the beans were grilled onions, sliced red onions were also mixed in the beautiful fresh greens...definitely not iceberg here! Oh my. Off course the homemade tostadas did not come with tostada....after reading the reviews prior to visiting we just had to order them......we ordered seconds! If you are missing homemade...this is it! NOT A CHAIN. This little RESTURANT is a diamond! This is family run. Service was as excellent as the food!

I have never written a review for anything before but after having a meal here I feel quite compelled to share my experience. I took my woman out for a date while visiting her parents and we came to El Charro because of the great ratings. There was NO disappointment in the service, food and atmosphere. we ordered the steak and chicken fajitas which came with rice and beans. we also ordered a Chile Relleno and Pork Tamale a la cart. To put it short we ordered way too much food. which is in no way disappointing as I am quite looking forward to left overs for lunch. The food was indeed excellent and very reasonably priced for the quality of food and service. Agreeably the woman and I would not recommend the tamale was it good? Absolutely but it paled I comparison to the rest of the meal. Also, know what specials are available before you go in if your interested. They advertise them on the front window. Great meal and I will definitely make this place a stop any time I am in town.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
